Care Team Story Walk
with Carl DeMars, MD

Mid Coast Hospital is celebrating Care Team Appreciation Week by hosting a “Wild Animal Alphabet” story walk on Saturday, May 10.
- Employees, their children, and family members are invited to join Carl DeMars and former President Lois Skilling on the story walk.
- Walks will be every 20 minutes beginning at 10 a.m., with the last walk scheduled at 11:40 a.m.
- Participants will meet in the Healing Garden at MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital.
The story walk features pages of “Wild Animal Alphabet,” a children’s book by popular Maine author and illustrator Dahlov Ipcar. Each participating family will receive a copy of Ipcar’s book.
The Art of Wellness: Intuitive Painting
with Estelle Krestos RN, BSN

Art and creativity can help you connect to your feelings, increase your self-awareness and ability to think of new ways to problem solve and develop healthy habits and routines. Class will meet for two sessions.
- Learn how to let go of stress and improve your overall sense of well-being through a creative drawing experience.
- Learn how to use simple creative exercises to create your own sense of calm.
- No drawing or artistic skill is required.
All supplies will be provided although you may bring your own.
Sessions are 2-hours each of instruction and projects
Cost for the three-class series is $30. Registration is required.

- Supplies will be provided - participants are encouraged to also bring any favorite images, memorabilia, or items you would like to use in your collage. You may also bring favorite pens markers or other supplies desired.
- Sessions 1 & 2 include instruction and projects

Babysitter / Home Alone Course

YOUTH FIRST AID TRAINING
This course provides students with an official K-12 American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR, AED, First Aid eCard which is valid for two years.
- Recommended for those age 10 and older.
- Attendance is required for both dates: Mon, Mar 31 & Mon, Apr 7; 5:15-7:45 pm.
- Registration is required.
- Cost for the program is $55 and all necessary materials will be provided. Limited scholarships are available.
- Please bring water and appropriate snacks. Participants are responsible for cleaning up their area.

Preserving Health

A free, 7-session series focusing on methods to cultivate and preserve nature’s bounty, including planning and preparing your garden, dehydrating food and canning vegetables.
Facilitated by Sheryl McWilliams.
2nd Thursday of the month | 6:30-8 p.m. (no sessions in July or August)
- March 13: Planning for the Future: Garden design, breaking the ground, till vs. no-till, etc.
- April 10: All Things Seeds: Selection, sourcing, starting and preservation
- May 8: Will It Grow? Planting, weeding and nurturing
- June 12: Growing the Soil: How to produce healthy, nutrient-dense plants
- September 11: Gathering the Bounty: Harvesting your produce
- October 9: What to Do with a Bumper Crop: Food storage and preservation
- November 13: Putting the Garden to Bed for the Winter
