The Art of Wellness: Collage Workshop
Sept 17 & 24 | 9:30-11:30 a.m. OR 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Art and creativity can help you connect to your feelings, increase your self-awareness and ability to think of new ways to problem solve and develop healthy habits and routines.
- Learn how to let go of stress and improve your overall sense of well-being through a creative drawing experience.
- Learn how to use simple creative exercises to create your own sense of calm.
- No drawing or artistic skill is required.
Enjoy a mindful and meditative experience with this Collage Workshop!
- Learn how collage can spark ideas, creativity, and self-expression.
- Create your own art through the use of various mixed media, paper, fabric, or found objects for a one of kind piece of art!
- Supplies will be provided - participants are encouraged to also bring any favorite images, memorabilia, or items you would like to use in your collage. You may also bring favorite pens markers or other supplies desired.
Cost for this series is $15. Registration is required.

A Morning of Intention
Saturday, September 20th | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Join us for A Morning of Intention — a thoughtfully curated experience designed to nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
Health in Motion
Begin your morning with an invigorating, improvisational movement. This joyful session will help build stamina, strength, and confidence — all while moving to music in a supportive and uplifting environment.
Mindfulness
Next, enjoy a guided mindfulness session led by our facilitators. You’ll connect with the present moment and engage in a short writing exercise to encourage personal reflection.
Art in the Garden
Take some time to slow down and appreciate the world around you. We’ll use supplied watercolors to paint what we observe in a water coloring journal.
A Healthful Lunch
We’ll conclude our morning together with a wholesome, nourishing lunch — a chance to relax and socialize in good company.

IMPROVment® | Improvisational Movement for Brain Body Health
Fun, creative, and lively, this series of evidence-based dance classes encourage participants to build stamina, strength, and confidence all while moving to music in a joyful and non-judgemental atmosphere. No prior experience is necessary, and attendees are invited to take the class at their own pace and slow down or rest at any time.
Program aims:
- to build strength and endurance
- to focus on balance and agility
- to have fun and be creative in a non-judgemental and non-competitive atmosphere
Any adult 65 years of age or older is encouraged to participate in this class series! Those with PD, early dementia, or individuals looking for cardiac rehabilitation are especially encouraged to participate.
Mondays, Sept. 29-Nov. 17, 10-11 a.m.
Registration is Required for EACH session - Participants are welcome to join for one class or all eight! Cost is $8/class or $40 for the series (call to register for all 8 to receive discount). Payment accepted by credit card or check payable to "Community Health & Wellness". Checks may be delivered to the front desk at Parkview prior to the class.

About the teaching artist: Jessie Laurita-Spanglet is a dance artist, educator, and arts administrator based in Brunswick, Maine. Jessie’s work at the intersection of movement and health has led to her current role as Intervention Coordinator on a cross-disciplinary dance and neuroscience research team at Wake Forest University. In addition to her work at Wake Forest, Jessie has taught courses on the topic of Dance and Health at Colby College and the University of Southern Maine, where she is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Theater. Jessie holds an MFA in dance from the University of Maryland, and is a 2024 National Arts Strategies Creative Community Fellow.

Art and creativity can help you connect to your feelings, increase your self-awareness and ability to think of new ways to problem solve and develop healthy habits and routines.
Neurographical art is perfect for a non-artist! It creates mindfulness and peace without having too much structure or the ability to draw skillfully.
- Learn how to let go of stress and improve your overall sense of well-being through a creative drawing experience.
- Learn how to use simple creative exercises to create your own sense of calm.
- No drawing or artistic skill is required.
All supplies will be provided although you may bring your own.
Sessions 1 & 2 are instruction and projects
Session 3 is an optional practice and review session
Cost for the three-class series is $30. Registration is required.

We will have live music, food, and class demonstrations representing the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine.
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses evidence-based therapeutic lifestyle interventions as to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and obesity.
There are six pillars of lifestyle medicine which include:
- a whole-food, mostly plant diet
- physical activity
- restorative sleep
- stress management
- avoidance of risky substances
- positive social connections
Lifestyle medicine can be combined with traditional clinical care and integrative therapies to prevent, manage and even reverse chronic disease.

Intuitive Painting
November 12 & 19, 9:30-11:30 a.m. OR 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Art and creativity can help you connect to your feelings, increase your self-awareness and ability to think of new ways to problem solve and develop healthy habits and routines. Class will meet for two sessions.
- Learn how to let go of stress and improve your overall sense of well-being through a creative drawing experience.
- Learn how to use simple creative exercises to create your own sense of calm.
- No drawing or artistic skill is required.
Learn how intuitive painting can help you discover your creative energy. Enjoy a calm, mindful practice that focuses on the process of creating and experimenting with color, shapes and techniques to develop your own unique and one-of-a-kind painting. This process will teach you there are no mistakes, and that it’s okay to break some rules, let go of perfection and trust your inner voice.
Supplies will be provided – participants may also use their own supplies if preferred. No previous painting or art experience required.
Sessions are 2-hours each of instruction and projects.
